RAM Maintenance Schedule

RAM Maintenance Schedule by Months & Miles

First, it’s important to note that the RAM maintenance schedule is based on ordinary driving and normal conditions. Consider bringing your truck in for RAM service if you drive in dusty conditions or extreme temperatures for long periods of time, and before taking a long trip. We recommend service before a long trip, like a summer vacation, because you don’t want to have a breakdown when you’re far from Decatur.

Second, if we see something that might need repairs in the coming months or immediately, we will alert you at any point along these RAM service intervals. Also, you should consult with your owner’s manual to find the exact RAM service timeframes for your model. 

Without further ado, here is the RAM maintenance schedule you should follow for the best results:

Every 10,000 Miles/12 Months

• Change the oil and filter
• Rotate the tires at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before the oil indicator system turns on
• Inspect the battery and clean and tighten terminals as required
• Inspect the CV/Universal joints
• Inspect the brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, and hoses
• Inspect the engine cooling system protection and hoses
• Inspect the exhaust system
• Inspect the engine air cleaner if using in dusty or off-road conditions, and replace the engine air cleaner, as necessary
• Deploy power side steps and clean linkages with a high-pressure car wash and remove any foreign debris. Apply MOPAR® Spray White Lithium Grease to the pivot points
• Inspect and replace the Evaporative System Fresh Air Filter as necessary; replacement may be more frequent if vehicle is operated in extremely dusty conditions

At 20,000 Miles or 2-Month Maintenance

• All recurring services from the first interval 
• Inspect the CV/Universal joints
• Inspect front suspension, and tie rod ends, and replace them if necessary
• Inspect the brake linings, and replace them as necessary
• For severe dusty driving conditions, inspect and replace the Evaporative System Fresh Air Filter as necessary; replacement may be more frequent depending on conditions

30,000 Miles or 18-Month Maintenance

• All services from 10,000-mile interval 
• Inspect the CV/Universal joints
• Inspect the front and rear axle surfaces 
• For severe dusty driving conditions, inspect and replace the Evaporative System Fresh Air Filter as necessary; replacement may be more frequent depending on conditions
• Replace the engine air cleaner filter

40,000-Mile or 30-Month Maintenance

• All services from 10,000 and 20,000-mile maintenance intervals 

50,000 Miles or 50-Month Maintenance

• All services from 10,000-mile interval 
• Inspect the CV/Universal joints
• For severe dusty driving conditions, inspect and replace the Evaporative System Fresh Air Filter as necessary; replacement may be more frequent depending on conditions

At this point, you might need new tires, a new battery, and new brakes. Tires generally last around 50,000 miles. Brakes are the same way. A batter lasts three to five years. Again, this depends on how you drive, how much trailering you do in Mahomet, and driving conditions. 

60,000 Miles or 60-Month Maintenance

• All services from 10,000 and 20,000-mile RAM service intervals 
• Inspect the front and rear axle surfaces. If gear oil leakage is suspected, check the fluid level. If using your vehicle for police, taxi, fleet, off-road, or frequent trailer towing, change axle fluid
• Inspect the transfer case fluid 

Infrequent Services 

• Replace cabin air filter every 12,000 miles 
• Replace spark plugs every 100,000 miles or 10 years 
• Flush and replace the engine coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first
• Inspect and replace PCV valve if necessary every 100,000 miles or 10 years 
• Change transfer case fluid every 120,000 miles or 12 years 
• Inspect the transfer case fluid, and change for any of the following: police, taxi, fleet, or frequent trailer towing
• Flush and replace the engine coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first
• If equipped with Stop/Start, replace the accessory drive belt with OEM grade MOPAR® belt every 15 years or 150,000 miles
